Customer Review: Replacement Options For The Braun KF12

I bought the Braun KF12 Aromaster 4-Cup Coffee Maker from Macy's back in '94 and it's still working like a champ after 16 years! I've made at least 5840 (365 x 16) pots of coffee with it! This little wonder is perhaps yet another testament to the adage "The Germans make the best stuff."
The KF12 is one of the most beloved coffee makers. (Long-time owners of the Braun Aromaster are known to get really attached to it.) But Braun has inexplicably decided to discontinue its production (circa 2005, along with its larger cousin, the KF400 Aromaster 10-Cup Coffee Maker). In fact, Braun doesn't even make 4 cup coffee makers anymore. Well, that's a real shame.
However, you can still find an OEM replacement carafe if you've broken yours. Curiously, the *only* model of coffee maker Braun seems to manufacture (as of this writing) is the Braun KF580 AromaDeluxe 10-Cup TimeControl Coffemaker, which is getting some mixed reviews. So, if you're in the market for a personal coffee maker, Braun seems to be out of the question. Your best bet would probably be the Mr. Coffee Programmable Coffeemaker, the Zojirushi EC-DAC50 Zutto 5-Cup Drip Coffeemaker, the Black & Decker DCM18S, the Hamilton Beach 4 Cup Coffee Brewer, the Hamilton Beach 42115 3-in-1 Hot-Beverage Center, or the very favorably rated AeroPress Coffee and Espresso Maker.

A white Aromaster 4 cup coffee maker / Permanent Gold-Screen Filter or use optional disposable filters / WHITEWith 750 watts of power and a convenient drip method, this coffee maker provides all the basics for brewing full-flavored coffee. Its stylish, durable, glass carafe has a 4-cup capacity and is dishwasher-safe, while a built-in warming plate helps keep coffee at the right temperature for enjoying additional cups without compromising flavor. A permanent gold-screen filter is included, but depending on preference, disposable filters may be used instead. Other features include an easy-to-read water-level indicator, a swing-out filter basket with overflow protection, and a drip-stop function for pouring a cup midbrew.
